The Return of Pepe

The Return of Pepe
By Jess Guim

He was endowed with talents,
Raised by the love of his father,
Under the brilliant skies of his town.

His concepts as great as Newton ,
And the late President Lincoln,
Lured him to take law as profession.

After high school, his father sent him
To the rich city of crowded Manila –
Hoping his son will become a lawyer.

At first, in his letter to his father:
He was vying for honors and merits,
Proven by his grades of perfect 1′s.

But a classmate, son of rich couple
From luxurious Forbes Park , lured him
To take LSD and smoke Maryjane.

Soon, after then, he buried himself
Into the ravine of prohibited drugs,
‘Til his borrowed life was ruined.

Now, the town and his loving father
Lament, mourning in his tragic return.
For now in silence, he’s lying in a coffin.
